Citizenship

If you are applying for Canadian citizenship you must meet the following conditions

1. AGE, LANGUAGE, AND TESTING

  • You must be between 18 and 54

  • You must meet the language requirement - English or French

  • You must pass the citizenship test

  • You must take the oath of citizenship

2. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

  • You must be physically present in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years before applying for citizenship.

  • The days you spent in Canada before obtaining permanent resident as a temporary resident (TR) or protected person (PR) can can be counted. Two days as TR/PP will count as one day as PR.

3. INCOME TAX RETURNS

  • You must have filed your Canadian income taxes for each of the three years.
